Ready for your session?

I'm SUPER excited you chose me as your photographer and I can't wait to create something beautiful with you!

Maybe you've got some questions or are wondering how this whole experience will look. Keep reading for a short guide on how to get the most out of your upcoming session.

Think 'First Date'

When you're on a first date with someone, you want to look good! You probably wouldn't wear a ball gown on your first date, but maybe not dirty running shoes either. Be comfortable, be yourself, look good.

Coordinate, Don't Match

Remember 90's Glamour Shots with matching white polos and jeans? That's not what we're going for here (unless you're being ironic, which YES LET'S DO THAT). Choose clothing options that compliment each other, using a similar color scheme.

Keep it Simple

When in doubt, go with neutrals. A black, white, or striped shirt is my favorite go-to for sessions. If you're unsure and especially if you have others to coordinate with, stay away from busy patterns or logos. You're the focus here!

The best advice I could give you to prepare for your shoot is just to love well. Be in love with who you are, the season you're in and those who are in the session with you.

Creating Natural Moments

In your session with me there will be opportunities for posing as well as candid shots. My photography style is about capturing who you are, not just posing you. Here are a few ways to create room for unique, fun moments in your sessions:

Keep it close.

Unless I say otherwise, get in each other's business. Get really close, that's where the love and laughter live.

Nothing is off limits.

Seriously. Think about who will be with you in the shoot, how they're feeling. What will make them light up? What will take them off guard? Maybe it's a tickle-fight or nibbling their face! Find somewhere in your session to surprise your loved one and make them smile!

Bring something from home.

This is especially helpful for family sessions, though totally optional. A blanket to snuggle up in or play hide-and-seek, a favorite book to read together, a lovey or animal. These familiar props create a safe and unique environment for your session. I love incorporating these little memory items into shoots!

Make a Memory

A session doesn't need to feel stiff or posed. Think of a way you can bring me into a memory you'd love to make. Love to fish with your family? Wanna grab an ice-cream together? Bring some bubbles along to play with together! Simple, beautiful things like this can bring LIFE into your session, help everyone relax, and really catch the beauty without feeling the pressure of "looking good."
